More Santa Cruz!

For a town this cool we had to see it twice in one weekend!  Jen saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time in style.  

Santa Cruz!

Yesterday we went to legendary Skate and Surf town, Santa Cruz. If it wasn't two hours from my new job, I would live here.  If you've ever seen The Lost Boys, this is where the amusement park on the boardwalk is.  We stumbled across the BoardRoom.  The building where Santa Cruz Skateboards started which is now a shop and museum to the counter culture which started it all for me.  I could write an entire blog based on the art on the walls but most of you would be bored with the details.  But for the few that won't - check out these photos!!!

Being in this place is like meeting you're favorite rockstar only it's not a let down.

The last week really exclaimed that our stuff is insignificant.

All of mine and Jen's material possessions were boxed up then loaded on a truck within a few hours. The truck(which the movers called "the small one") barely filled 1/2 the container.

..and I wouldn't care one bit if the truck got lost along the way. As long as I can get back to Jen and Marley and everyone reading this blog can get out to us

Not on Eastern Standard Time Anymore...

Our objective in arriving on the West Siiiide was to hit the ground running, so there wasn't a lot of time between landing in SFO and starting my J-O-B to take a step back and assess how big of a change we've made... and that's kind of how I intended it! With that in mind, maybe you'll think I'm less of a dummy for thinking all day that I was going to get home, settle in, and watch the President's State of the Union address at 9PM. ALL DAY I kept thinking, 'ok cool, it's on at 9.' 'Awesome, maybe I'll take a yoga class cuz it's not on til 9. NBD.' Um, it was on at 9 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. A little detail I never had to pay attention to before, because back east, 9 always means 9! How's that for reality!

Temperature Tantrum

You don't notice how comfortable your shoes are until you have a pebble in one. Yesterday, Palo Alto was room temperature (65 deg) and you could spit your gum on the sidewalk and pick it back up and eat it. You would too because you'd feel terrible to be the north eastern bull in a china shop - and the gum would still be clean. Everything is beautiful there.

Headed East and somewhere along the line, I picked up a pebble.

Back in NYC again (32 deg) and the people are getting pretty again. I just landed in Newark, New Jersey an hour ago and four transfers later I could practically measure the change like going from a meat locker to a sauna. Newark - everything is ugly there.

I took a plane, a bus and three trains to get back to Rockefeller Center for a day of work. ... And at the end of it still said "excuse me" before I shoved anyone out of the way. I am exceptional. Is this how Mother Teresa felt? They should give me a Nobel Peace Prize. They gave Obama one for no reason. I excused myself on a New York City subway - that's way better.

Well Hello!

It seems high time I jumped in on this! As we speak Jay is heading back east to the frigidity -- There's only 9 inches of snow on the forecast, so that's not too bad right?? (yeesh!) Of course me & Marls already miss having him around -- even if you wouldn't guess it as she's fast asleep in her brand new awesome dog bed on the floor, and I'm glued to the magnificence of our Comcast cable (oh how I've missed you Food Network!!!)

But Jay has been keeping us in line and with him tapping out for the next week, us irresponsible little ladies will most likely be staying up after our bedtime and sleeping through our alarms... Sorrryyyy baaaaabbbe!!!

Ultimately though, we're kinda sorta totally LOVING IT here! You've seen some shots of our days,

but one thing we didn't even get to cover is the fact that on our second night here, we went and saw Bay Area legends Neurosis at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco proper... and it ruled!!!

I had to go to Palo Alto's Apple store where Apple headquarters is. The stores in NYC are way nicer but this town is beautiful. It even smells nice like the cleaning ladies just came through.
